3 Held In Maharashtra's Beed For Putting Up Banners Showing Atiq Ahmed And Ashraf As Martyrs

Three persons have been arrested by Maharashtra police for putting up banners showing murdered gangster brothers Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf as martyrs.

Maharashtra police on Wednesday arrested three persons in the state’s Beed district for putting up banners depicting murdered gangster brothers Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf as martyrs. The banners were put in the Majalgaon town of the Beed district. The police removed the banner as soon as it was spotted. It was mentioned in the banner that it was put up by the Mohsin Bhaiya Mitra Mandal. Both Atiq and his brother Ashraf were shown as martyrs on the banner.

Beed Police has registered two FIRs under sections 293, 294 and 153 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested three out of four accused in the case so far. A search is underway to nab Mohsin Patel. More people are likely to be arrested in the matter concerned.

According to ANI, "Three people arrested, case registered under sections 293,294 and 153 IPC after Vishwa Hindu Parishad lodged a police complaint over a poster of gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed terming them as martyrs was put up in Beed."

The police arrested two accused after investigating. Both Atiq Ahmad and Ashram were described as martyrs on this banner.

Meanwhile, a Prayagraj court on Wednesday sent three accused shooters in the Atiq-Ahmed murder case to four days of police custody. The three shooters — Mohit alias Sunny (23) of Hamirpur, Lavlesh Tiwari (22) of Banda and Arun Maurya (18) of Kasganj — were brought to Prayagraj this morning from Pratapgarh jail and produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate amid heavy police presence to seek remand for questioning.

The 60-year-old gangster-turned-politician, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf were handcuffed when they were shot dead by the assailants posing as journalists on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college in Prayagraj for a check-up.

The mafia brothers were killed just hours after Atiq's son Asad, shot dead in a police encounter, was buried in his ancestral Kasari Masari graveyard in Prayagraj's Chakia area.

At the time when the assailants opened fire at the mafia brothers, one of the shooters Lavlesh Tiwari was also reported to have been hit by a bullet and sustain injuries. He was hit by a fellow miscreant and was taken to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj where he received treatment.
