21 Employees of Indore Nagar Nigam Expelled For Supporting BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya's Cricket Bat Attack

Condemning the assault, state Congress spokesperson Neelabh Shukla said, "The lawmaker himself has broken the law. The incident has exposed the real face of the BJP." State Congress Media Cell chairperson Shobha Oza said, "This is the result of long-standing intra-party rivalry between Kailash Vijayvargiya and mayor Malini Gaud."

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A day after BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya assaulted municipal officers with a cricket bat, the municipal commission expelled 21 employees, who were allegedly supporting the BJP leader instead of protecting their colleagues while the incident was taking place. The termination comes as municipal officers of Indore Nagar Nigam this morning staged a protest against Akash Vijayvargiya. Akash Vijayvargiya is the son of senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya. He was arrested and sent to jail Wednesday for attacking the municipal officials with a cricket bat while opposing demolition of a dilapidated house. The video of Akash thrashing the officials with a bat went viral on social media, after which the police filed an FIR against him and 10 others. A local court rejected Akash's bail plea and he was sent in judicial custody for two weeks. Akash (34), a first-time MLA represents Indore III seat. He was seen beating the officials in the presence of policemen who weren’t able to bring the situation under control. Justifying his action, Akash said, “This is just a beginning. We will finish corruption and hooliganism (of civic officials). Avedan (application), nivedan (request), then dana-dan (thrashing)....this is our line of action." Condemning the assault, state Congress spokesperson Neelabh Shukla said, "The lawmaker himself has broken the law. The incident has exposed the real face of the BJP." State Congress Media Cell chairperson Shobha Oza said, "This is the result of long-standing intra-party rivalry between Kailash Vijayvargiya and mayor Malini Gaud." State BJP spokesperson Rahul Kothari said the government's action smacked of political revenge. The Congress (government) allowed officials to loot people and behave arrogantly with elected representatives, he alleged, seeking a fair probe, reported PTI.
