The GFP evaluated the military capabilities of 145 world powers, considering over 60 factors such as manpower, financial resources, logistical capabilities, and geographic positioning, among others.

New Delhi: The latest report by Global Firepower (GFP), a website that keeps track of global defence information, revealed that the United States has the most powerful military globally. Following the US, Russia and China hold the second and third positions, respectively, with India securing the fourth spot in the global military rankings.

Bhutan is at the bottom of the list with a power index of 6.3704.

It evaluated the military capabilities of 145 world powers, considering over 60 factors such as manpower, financial resources, logistical capabilities, and geographic positioning, among others. All the mentioned factors are taken into account to generate a country's PowerIndex (PwrIdx) score, with a lower score indicating stronger military capabilities. According to the index, a "0.0000" is considered to be the perfect score.

In a statement on its website, Global Firepower said "Our unique, in-house formula allows for smaller, more technologically advanced nations to compete with larger, lesser-developed powers, and special modifiers, in the form of bonuses and penalties, are applied to further refine the list, which is compiled annually."
