Punjab: Minor Thrashed, Head Shaved By Female Friend's Family, Neighbours For Inviting Her Home

Ludhiana: A teenage boy was allegedly beaten and his head was tonsured for inviting a female friend to his home in Malout town in Punjab’s Muktsar district on Monday. 

A video capturing the incident was posted on social media.

According to PTI, the incident took place on Monday when the victim's 16-year-old friend visited his house in Ravidas Nagar, Malout town the police said. They further added, when the girl's family got to know, they took her back to their home.

The people in the locality also joined in and attacked the boy. Thereafter, they tied a rope around him and called a barber to shave off a part of his head said a Times Now report.

Once the police were alerted they rushed to rescue the boy and got him admitted at a civil hospital.  According to a TOI report, “While a friend of the boy said the girl had come to his house on her own, his family members claimed that the boy had been harassing for long”.

The Times Now report stated that the Malout police station SHO Mohan Lal has informed that the matter is being investigated and medical reports are awaited.

“We had visited the spot and rescued the boy yesterday. He is admitted to the local Civil Hospital. It appears to be a case of some love affair, but when our team had visited there, some people were thrashing him,” he was quoted as saying by daily The Tribune.

The victim's family has demanded strict action against the attackers.
