Madhya Pradesh: 14 Cops Suspended For Lapse In BJP Leader Jyotiraditya Scindia's Security; Know Why

After following a vehicle that looked like Scindia's, leaving his unescorted for several kilometers, 14 policemen were suspended in Madhya Pradesh.

Gwalior: Authorities on Monday, suspended 14 policemen from two districts for a lapse in BJP Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia security while he was on a visit to Madhya Pradesh.

The lapse occurred when Scindia was on his way to Gwalior after arriving from Delhi on Sunday night.

While traveling from Delhi to Gwalior by road, the former Union minister was to be escorted by Morena Police on the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border, and later this task was to be done by their Gwalior counterparts but the pilot and the follow vehicle moved along with another vehicle that looked like Scindia whereas the minister's vehicle traveled several kilometers without any security.

After the incident came to light, senior officers suspended 14 policemen. Gwalior Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi told PTI nine cops from Morena and five from Gwalior district have been suspended for negligence in handling Scindia's security.

The Rajya Sabha MP entered Gwalior un-escorted as information about his movement was not shared by Morena police with their Gwalior counterparts, he said.

Following this lapse, action has been taken against the policemen from two districts, Sanghi told PTI.

After the death of Lok Janshakti Party founder Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP's Suresh Angadi, their respective posts of Cabinet Minister and Minister of State remain vacant. Two ministerial posts vacated by representatives of Shiromani Akali Dal and Shiv Sena after they exited the National Democratic Alliance also need to be filled. The Prime Minister has been meeting the ministers and reviewing their work. Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Union minister and four-time Lok Sabha who left the Congress in March 2020 is one of the four names who could possibly be inducted.

Although, the Modi government is yet to confirm any details regarding the rumoured cabinet reshuffle or expansion.
