100 Terrorists, Including 63 From Lashkar-e-Taiba, Killed In Kashmir In 2022: Report
The officials added that this was double the number of terrorists killed during the corresponding period last year.
New Delhi: The security forces have killed 100 terrorists in Kashmir during counter insurgency operations since the beginning of this year, PTI reported officials as saying in Srinagar on Monday. “Security forces have eliminated 100 terrorists, including 29 foreigners, since the beginning of this year in Kashmir,” the officials said, according to the news agency.
The officials added that this was double the number of terrorists killed during the corresponding period last year.
“Fifty terrorists, including one foreigner, were killed in the counter terrorism operations last year in the first five months and 12 days,” the officials said.
The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) bore the maximum brunt this year as the terror outfit lost 63 of its cadres.
The officials said 63 of the terrorists killed in encounters belonged to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, while 24 others were affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, earlier on Sunday echoed similar sentiments as he said as many as 100 terrorists have been gunned down in the region this year, ANI reported.
“An encounter started at Kreesbal Palpora Sangam area of Srinagar with terrorists and a small team of Srinagar Police. When the search operation started, the terrorists opened fire on our party,” he told the news agency.
Kumar said that Adil Parray, a terrorist linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, was involved in the killing of two Jammu and Kashmir police personnel in the region.
“The encounter started in which Adil Parray was killed. LeT terrorist Adil Parray of Ganderbal who was involved in the killing of two JKP personnel Gh Hassan Dar in Sangam and Saifulla Qadri in Anchar Soura and injuring a 9-year-old girl, killed in a chance encounter with a small team of Police,” he said.
Asserting it is a “matter of success for the police to neutralise Adil Parray”, the senior police official added: “100 terrorists have been killed in J-K so far this year.”
