Hyundai Creta 2018: Expected Prices

The Creta gets more features now but the number of variants has gone down 

Hyundai is expected to launch the Creta facelift before the end of this month and dealers have already started accepting unofficial pre-launch bookings. With the launch around the corner, we answer the burning question: what could its prices be?

The Hyundai Creta has always enjoyed a monopoly in the compact SUV space as its prime rival the Renault Captur’s sales are literally incomparable. The Renault Captur retails well under 500 units monthly on an average, while the Creta’s sales hover in the region of 8k-10k units a month. So, Hyundai doesn’t have to be cut-throat competitive when it comes to pricing the 2018 Creta. Here’s our guess on the variant-wise prices of Hyundai’s updated compact SUV. 

• Hyundai Creta Facelift Variant And Features Leaked Before Launch

With the upcoming facelift model, the Hyundai Creta’s variant lineup will include a fully loaded petrol variant, the SX (O), for the first time. Like before, automatic transmission is not available with the top-spec SX(O) variant be it the petrol or the diesel versions. However, the prices of the SX AT and SX (O) should be comparatively higher than the SX+ variant of the pre-facelift Creta due to the addition of an electric sunroof, cruise control, an updated infotainment system with an IPS display and daytime running LEDs.

Unlike earlier, the 1.4-litre diesel won’t be available with the base E variant. Instead, it will now be offered with the E+ that packs in extra goodies such as a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, being an entry-level variant, we still expect Hyundai to price it aggressively. Also, Hyundai has discontinued the pre-facelift model’s S variant and the S+ has been renamed S.

Since Hyundai has simplified the Creta facelift’s variant list by dropping many ‘+’ suffixed variants, the available variant options with the 1.6-litre diesel engine have also gone down. Also, as is the case with the petrol, the top-spec SX(O) variant should be more expensive, thanks to the addition of a powered driver’s seat, smart key band, sunroof and wireless charging. The SX AT will also be priced higher as it is also offered with an electric sunroof.

Hyundai will continue to offer the dual-tone paint option on the SX variant (SX+ before) and is likely to price it at a premium of around Rs 40,000 over the regular version, as before.
