Hyderabad Police Stops Congress MP Revanth Reddy From Distributing Food To Needy
The Hyderabad police stopped him from entering Gandhi Hospital — one of the biggest Covid centres in the city — and said the MP is not allowed to enter the hospital due to certain restrictions
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president and Member of Parliament from Malakjgiri constituency, Revanth Reddy, on Sunday was stopped from distributing food for the poor at Begumpet in Hyderabad. The Malkajgiri MP started a free meal service and within a day he started the service he was stopped by the city police.
The police stopped him from entering Gandhi Hospital — one of the biggest Covid centres in the city — and said the MP is not allowed to enter the hospital due to certain restrictions. MP Revanth has started a free meal service and promised at least 1,000 free meals to be offered to the doctors, nurses, patients and their dependents at the hospital.
Revanth questioned the police if they have the orders to stop him? Taking the issue to Twitter, the MP wrote: "What right does the Govt have to stop a local MP from fulfilling my duty & responsibility as an elected representative."

While starting the free meal service on Saturday, the Congress MP said that the people coming from other districts of the state and also from neighbouring states couldn't meet the square meal a day due to closed food joints and lockdown.
He alleged that the government has not helped people in the crisis period. He also alleged that the Youth Congress workers who had reached people to help were harassed by the police. The Congress MP said that the government is being exposed for their failures and that is the reason for the ‘witchhunt’.
With all the Congress leaders taking to Twitter with an #ArrestMeToo, the hashtag started trending on the micro blogging site. Joining the bandwagon, Revanth Reddy took to Twitter: "The govt’s can create obstacles for us, but we are not the ones who will give up. We will continue to feed the needy in these tough times." #ArrestMeToo #SOSTCongress #DoYourBit
