Delhi Covid Crisis: CM Kejriwal Informs Shortage Of Oxygen, ICU Beds As Capital Records Over 24,000 Cases In 24 Hrs

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday informed that the national capital recorded around 24,000 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. he saod that there is shortage of oxygen and Remdesivir in Delhi.

Addressing a press conference today, the Chief Minister said, "Delhi has a limited number of ICU beds. Oxygen and ICU beds are decreasing very sharply. We are taking several steps to scale up beds capacity."

Kejriwal went on to say that the Delhi government is planning to add 6,000 beds in two or three days. 

"I hope that we add 6,000 beds in two or three days. No one knows when the peak will come. Central govt gave 4100 beds in November but this time only 1800 beds have been given. I requested Dr Harsh Vardhan to reserve 50% beds for COVID patients," he said, adding that the authorities will keep a close eye on the situation for some days and take the necessary steps if the situation deteriorates

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister also said that complaints are being received over labs taking 2-3 days in producing COVID-19 reports to patients. he assured to take strict action against such labs that will not give report within 24 hours. 

Amid rising number of Coronavirus cases, the Chief Minister on Thursday announced a weekend curfew in the national capital from 10 pm Friday till 6 am Monday. As per the guidelines, only essential services are to operate freely. All markets, malls, gyms, auditoriums, etc to remain shut over the weekend. Cinemas halls will now to operate at 30 per cent capacity only. People will not be allowed to dine in restaurants, only home deliveries will be permitted.
