Needlessly Roaming Outside During Weekend Curfew Can Land You In Jail, Warn Delhi Police
In this weekend curfew, Medical services and supply of food materials, fruits and vegetables will go on as usual. Doctors and journalists have also been allowed to travel freely with a valid identity card.
New Delhi: People seen on the streets of the national capital without valid reasons during the weekend curfew will have to face prosecution and even arrest for violating the Covid regulations, Delhi Police stated on Friday.
The warning came in after the Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava held a meeting with all districts' deputy commissioner police commissioners through a video conference and asked them to strictly implement the weekend restrictions imposed to tackle to Covid situation in Delhi.
"If anyone is found moving without a valid emergency or movement pass for essential services or goods, they would be stopped and cases will be registered against them and they may also face arrests," said senior Delhi police officers on Friday.

They added that anyone coming out of their homes will definitely be checked by police personnel and questioned.

A Covid helpline has also been started by Delhi Police to receive requests from people facing genuine difficulties in the movement for essential services and goods.
The helpline is set up at the Police Headquarters with pilot number 011-23469900, Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said.
"It is not our purpose to create hindrance in these (essential) services. These will operate normally and our personnel will facilitate it. But no one under the garb of these activities can undertake undue movement to violate the restriction orders," he quoted Commissioner SN Shrivastava as saying.
The policemen will also oversee if people are following personal safety norms like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and other hygiene related practices.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced the weekend curfew recently. Malls, gymnasiums and auditoriums have been ordered to close down till April 30, as Delhi witnesses the fourth wave of Coronavirus spread.
