WATCH: Rahul Gandhi Shares Truck Ride With Drivers To Hear Their 'Mann Ki Baat'

Congress sources said Gandhi was on his way to Shimla to spend some time with his mother Sonia Gandhi and on the way he decided to listen to the problems of truck drivers, according to PTI.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met and interacted with truck drivers late on Monday night near Chandigarh’s Ambala. In a viral video, tweeted by the Congress Party, Gandhi was seen sitting inside a truck, travelling with one of the drivers. The visual showed him engaged in conversations with fellow truck drivers donning his signature white T-shirt. Rahul Gandhi travelled to Chandigarh from Delhi with the drivers to know their problems and understand the challenges they face in their lives. Posting pictures of Gandhi sitting among truck drivers, Congress wrote, “Your Rahul Gandhi in your midst.”

Tweeting the video, the party wrote, “Jannayak @RahulGandhi ji reached among the truck drivers to know their problems. Rahul ji traveled with him from Delhi to Chandigarh. According to media reports, there are about 90 lakh truck drivers on the Indian roads. They have their own problems. Rahul ji did the work of listening to his 'Mann Ki Baat'.”

Congress sources said Gandhi was on his way to Shimla to spend some time with his mother Sonia Gandhi and on the way he decided to listen to the problems of truck drivers, according to PTI.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Gandhi also interacted with college students and women at a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus stop, when he was campaigning for the Karnataka Assembly Elections.

During that time, he also spoke to the women passengers inside one of the BMTC buses.

As part of the Congress’ outreach to gig workers, party leader Rahul Gandhi also interacted with them and also rode pillion on a delivery boy’s scooter in Bengaluru on Sunday. In a video posted by news agency ANI, Rahul Gandhi could be seen hopping on to the scooter of a delivery boy, wearing a blue helmet.

The Congress, on its Twitter handle, wrote, “Rahul Gandhi ji had a candid conversation with gig workers and delivery partners of Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit etc at the iconic Airlines Hotel in Bengaluru, today.”

“Rahul Gandhi’s outreach to gig workers and delivery partners in Bengaluru is a part of his unwavering commitment to the issues of every section of society,” the Congress tweeted.

Over a cup of coffee and masala dosa, Rahul Gandhi spoke to the delivery agents about their lives, lack of stable employment and rising prices of basic commodities. He also listened to why they had taken up gig jobs and what was their experience of working as delivery agents.
