PM Modi to Inaugurate Development Projects in Telangana's Nizamabad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nizamabad in Telangana on Tuesday, where he will inaugurate a series of crucial development projects and address a public meeting organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects with an estimated worth of around Rs 8,000 crore, according to an official release. Among the key projects, he will inaugurate the first 800 MW unit of Phase 1 of the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project developed by NTPC. This power plant is expected to provide cost-effective electricity to the state, thereby contributing significantly to its economic growth. The project is also noteworthy for its environmental compliance and adherence to strict environmental standards, making it one of the most eco-friendly power stations in the nation.
In addition to the power project, PM Modi will also boost the state's rail infrastructure by inaugurating key rail projects. These include the new rail line connecting Manoharabad and Siddipet, as well as the electrification projects for the Dharmabad-Manoharabad and Mahabubnagar-Kurnool rail lines.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 20 critical care blocks under the Pradhan Mantri - Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the health infrastructure in Telangana and providing improved healthcare access to the citizens.
Abhishek Banerjee-Led TMC Protest at Jantar Mantar Over MGNREGA Funds
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has announced a protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, with the participation of 3.5 thousand job cardholders. The demonstration aims to draw attention to the delayed disbursement of funds to MGNREGA job cardholders, some of whom have been awaiting payment for over two years.
TMC leaders and supporters are preparing for the protest at Jantar Mantar, armed with letters addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the non-payment of dues. They assert that they have gathered over 50 lakh such letters from West Bengal and intend to present letters from other BJP-ruled states as well. The focus of their protest centers on allegations of corruption in central schemes, as reported by PTI sources.
Supreme Court to Hear Chandrababu Naidu's Plea on Skill Development Corporation Scam
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea filed by TDP (Telugu Desam Party) leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday, PTI reported. Naidu's plea challenges the Andhra Pradesh High Court's order, which dismissed his petition seeking the quashing of an FIR filed against him in connection with an alleged scam related to the Skill Development Corporation.
A bench comprising justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi will preside over the hearing on Tuesday. In a previous ruling, the Supreme Court had declined to restrain the trial court from proceeding with a plea seeking police custody of Naidu. It was announced that a new bench would hear Naidu's petition for the quashing of the FIR linked to the alleged Rs 371 crore scam in the state.
The case revolves around allegations that Naidu, during his tenure as Chief Minister in 2015, misappropriated funds from the Skill Development Corporation, resulting in a purported loss of Rs 371 crore to the state exchequer. The trial court has extended Naidu's judicial remand until October 5, as the legal proceedings continue.
Naidu's plea and the subsequent court proceedings have drawn significant attention, underscoring the importance of accountability and transparency in governance.
