PM Modi To Chair Council Of Ministers Meet Amid Reshuffle Buzz:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on Monday (July 3) amid increased speculation about a Cabinet reshuffle following a series of meetings of the ruling BJP's top brass.
The meeting on Monday is expected to take place at the newly constructed convention centre at Pragati Maidan, which will host the G20 summit in September, news agency PTI reported.
The political upheaval in Maharashtra on Sunday, when NCP leader Ajit Pawar joined the BJP-Shiv Sena government with several of his party legislators, and a series of closed-door meetings involving the BJP's brain trust, including Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda, have strengthened the view that a Cabinet reshuffle is imminent.
Delhi HC Expected To Issue Order Regarding PIL Challenging Withdrawal Of Rs 2,000 Banknotes Today:
The Delhi High Court is expected to rule on a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the RBI's decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 denomination banknotes from circulation on Monday. After hearing counsel for the petitioner and the RBI, a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad reserved its decision on the PIL on May 30.
Petitioner Rajneesh Bhaskar Gupta claims that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lacks the authority to withdraw Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation and that only the Centre could have made such a decision, PTI reported.
Jagarnath Mahto's Wife Set To Swear-In As Jharkhand Minister On Monday:
Baby Devi, the wife of former minister Jagarnath Mahto, will take her oath as a minister in the Hemant Soren-led UPA government in Jharkhand on Monday, a JMM leader said on Sunday.
After the death of Mahto, who was in charge of school education, literacy, and excise, a ministerial vacancy arose in the Hemant Soren cabinet.
According to the JMM leader, the swearing-in ceremony will most likely take place around noon in Raj Bhavan.
"At an event in Raj Bhavan, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan will administer the oath of office and secrecy to her. The ceremony will be attended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren and other cabinet ministers," JMM central committee member Vinod Pandey told PTI.
