Bengaluru: Wife Seeks Divorce After Unemployed Husband Turns Escort During Lockdown

The couple married in 2019 and settled happily at a rented accommodation in Subramanyanagar but now they couldn’t bridge their differences despite extensive counselling by the Vanitha Sahayavani (women’s helpline) of Bengaluru Police.

Bengaluru:  In an incident which throws light on the plight of the people courtesy the lockdowns imposed to defeat the novel coronavirus pandemic, a 24-year-old woman in the country’s IT capital Bengaluru has sought divorce from her husband as he became a commercial sex worker while trying to make ends meet after losing his job at a BPO amid Covid-19 shutdowns.

According to a TOI report, the couple married in 2019 and settled happily at a rented accommodation in Subramanyanagar but now they couldn’t bridge their differences despite extensive counselling by the Vanitha Sahayavani (women’s helpline) of Bengaluru Police.

The duo fell in love at first sight while working at a BPO in Bengaluru in 2017 but destiny has now compelled them to part ways.

This took place as the man after having lost his job began looking for fresh opportunities but his wife noticed something unusual a few months later as he was too occupied with his laptop and cell phone. In addition, he had begun to make untimely and unexplained visits to places about which he wouldn’t discuss with his wife in detail.

The woman after getting extremely suspicious about his activities took the assistance of her techie brother to crack open her husband’s laptop where she found a secret folder containing numerous nude photos of her other half and selfies of semi-naked women unknown to her.

She then found out that he was now a male escort with numerous clients in the city. When confronted, the man denied it was him.

He, however, later admitted to his guilt after the woman landed at the Women’s Helpline housed at the Malleswaram Police Station in February this year.
