Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Review: Taapsee Pannu And Vikrant Massey Return with Darker, Gripping Sequel

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Review: Sequel to the 2021 film Haseen Dillruba, the film continues the story of Rani and Rishu, played by Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, while introducing new characters.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Review: "Na chalan sey na chaal sey, aashiq ko poehchaano uske dil key haal sey (Not by his walk, nor by his talk, recognise a lover by the state of his heart.)" This dialogue sets the tone for Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, the sequel to the 2021 Netflix hit Haseen Dillruba. The film, released on August 9th, continues the story of Rani and Rishu (Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey) while introducing new characters and deeper mysteries. But does the sequel live up to its predecessor? Let’s dive into the details.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba storyline

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba picks up right where the first film left off, so if you haven't seen the original, you might find yourself lost in the twists and turns of this narrative. The story now unfolds in Agra, where Rani and Rishu’s complicated relationship takes center stage once again. New characters are introduced, bringing with them unexpected twists and challenges. A new man enters Rani's life, adding layers to the already complex love triangle. Will Rani stay true to Rishu, or will this new love interest sway her heart? The stakes are higher, with more bloodshed and mystery than before.

How is Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba?

The film proves that sequels don’t always have to disappoint. The film manages to weave the ongoing story effectively, though there are moments where the pace might feel a bit slow. However, the twists that follow are sure to keep you glued to your seat. Rani's fascination with Dinesh Pandit’s novels is well-known from the first film, and it continues here. Though, hearing Taapsee repeat the line "Pandit Ji kehte hain..." might wear thin after a while. This time around, the intimate scenes are fewer compared to the first film, focusing more on building suspense and drama. The story leaves room for further continuation, hinting at a potential third installment. One of the standout moments is the use of Kishore Kumar's classic song "Ek Haseena Thi," which adds a nostalgic touch to the film. It's clear that the makers are aiming to build a loyal fanbase that eagerly awaits each new chapter in this ongoing saga.

Performances

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba features stellar performances from Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey, along with new additions Sunny Kaushal, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Bhumika Dube. Each actor delivers a commendable performance, with their characters becoming darker as the story progresses. Sunny Kaushal, in particular, shines in his role, doing full justice to the character he portrays. Bhumika Dube is also impressive in her role, adding depth to the film’s narrative. Jimmy Sheirgill steps in as a new police officer, playing a relative of Neel, a character from the first film. As expected, Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey bring their A-game, infusing the story with passion and intensity.

Direction

Directed by Jayprad Desai and written by Kanika Dhillon, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba excels in both direction and writing. The film’s direction and story flow give the impression of a novel coming to life on screen. Jayprad Desai skillfully brings Dinesh Pandit’s story to life through well-crafted characters and a gripping narrative. The film’s direction ensures that the tension and suspense are maintained throughout, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is a worthy sequel that deepens the mystery and drama established in the first film. With strong performances, a captivating story, and skillful direction, it’s a must-watch for fans of the genre and those who loved the original.
