Chandu Champion review: Kartik Aaryan starrer is a film that fills you with unparalleled zeal. If you are searching for motivation, this movie is a must-watch.

Chandu Champion review: Some films transcend mere entertainment and leave a profound impact on their audience, inspiring them to move forward in life and providing the motivation they seek. In today's world, where everyone needs a little push to keep going, ‘Chandu Champion’ offers just that.

Storyline

The narrative follows the extraordinary life of Murlikant Petkar (played by Kartik Aaryan), a hero whose story deserves to be known by the nation. Despite being confined to a wheelchair and unable to walk, Murlikant defied the odds to win a gold medal at the Olympics for India. From his childhood, he had one dream: to bring home a gold medal for his country. Ridiculed for his aspirations, he remained steadfast, pursuing wrestling and later enlisting in the army. Despite facing life-threatening injuries that left him paralysed, he persevered, eventually winning a gold medal in swimming at the Paralympics. This true story is one that the country must witness and celebrate.

How is the film

‘Chandu Champion’ is a film that fills you with an unparalleled zeal. If you are searching for motivation, this movie is a must-watch. From the very beginning, the film captivates you, drawing you into Murlikant’s journey. The village scenes are beautifully depicted, and although a song or two might seem out of place, they do not detract from the overall experience. The first half of the film is exceptional, while the second half slows down slightly, reflecting Murli's struggles in the wheelchair—essential to convey his pain authentically. The film evokes a range of emotions, making you cry, laugh, and feel inspired. It illustrates how often we make excuses to avoid challenges, whereas Murli Kant achieved the extraordinary from his wheelchair, leaving you energized as you exit the theater.

Acting

Kartik delivers the best performance of his career, dedicating over two years to this film, and his effort shines through. From his athletic physique to his Marathi accent, Kartik portrays Murlikant’s various life stages with excellence, making him a deserving candidate for a National Award. Vijay Raaz excels as Kartik’s senior and coach, delivering a powerful performance in every scene. Bhuvan Arora as Garnail Singh also stands out, and Shreyas Talpade brings a small but impactful role as a police officer to life. Rajpal Yadav, as a compounder, and Brijendra Kala, in a brief criminal role, showcase their remarkable talent. Yashpal Sharma and Sonali Kulkarni, who plays a journalist, also deliver commendable performances.

Direction

Kabir Khan's direction is top-notch, reflecting his dedication and thorough research over more than two years. His grasp on Murlikant’s inspiring story is commendable, and he rightly deserves praise for bringing such a hero's tale to the screen. While he takes some creative liberties, they are justified and add to the film's appeal.

‘Chandu Champion’ is a phenomenal film that should not be missed. Watch it and be inspired.
