Satyanarayan Vrat January 2023: Know All About Purnima Tithi, Puja Vidhi And Significance

To appease Lord Vishnu in the form of Shri Satyanarayan many people perform this puja. Fasting and worshipping Satyanarayan is believed to bring praise, good health, and money.

New Delhi: Shri Satyanarayan Puja is conducted every Poornima to seek the blessings of Lord Narayana, who is the incarnation of  Lord Vishnu. Devotees are required to keep a fast on the day of the puja. The puja can be performed in the morning or in the evening. Evening Puja is more suitable for devotees as they can break their fast by obtaining Prasadam.

To appease Lord Vishnu in the form of Shri Satyanarayan, who is regarded as the embodiment of truth, many people perform this puja. Fasting and worshipping Satyanarayan is believed to bring praise, good health, and money.

According to Drik Panchang, Satyanarayan Vrat will be performed on Purnima Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Paush i.e., on January 6, 2023.

Satyanarayan Vrat January 2023: Puja Vidhi

  • A holy bath must be taken first thing in the morning.
  • Then take a wooden plank, cover it with a yellow cloth and place an image of Lord Shri Satyanarayan on it. The plank is then embellished with mango and banana leaves. 
  • The Panchamrit is prepared for worship.  Milk, ghee, tofu, jaggery, five nuts, and basil leaves are used to make panchamrit.
  • Devotees who wish to please Lord Satyanarayan should consider Tulsi Patra auspicious. 
  • Now offer flowers, Kumkum, apply haldi tilak to the Lord, fill the Kalash full of water and light the diya with desi ghee. 
  • Then the lord is worshipped as per rituals, while offering the sacraments, flower crowns, spices, medicines, fruits, etc.

Satyanarayan Vrat January 2023: Significance

The festival of Purnima has unique spiritual and religious importance. The  Moon draws nearer to Earth on this holy day, showering devotees with its heavenly rays. Every month on the full moon, people think that fasting and worshipping Lord Satyanarayan will bring prosperity into their homes and grant their wishes.

Those who are looking for their ideal life partner or who intend to get married soon are especially advised to keep this fast in order to receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu.

According to the legend surrounding Satyanarayan Puja, Lord Vishnu, himself claims that anyone who follows this fast will have all of their troubles vanish. The followers must also chant or listen to Vishnu Sahastranaam while offering puja to God.
