Ram Navami is celebrated every year in the month of Chaitra on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha. Today marks the end of Chaitra Navratri. In Sanatan Dharma, the special significance of today has been mentioned.
Significance of Navami
This day is also celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. It is said that on this very day Lord Rama was born in the house of King Dasharatha. He was born to establish religion and destroy iniquity. It's the ninth day of the auspicious festival of Chaitra Navratri, and devotees worship Goddess Siddhidatri, an incarnation of Goddess Durga.
What's the ritual of puja?
Devotees wake up in the divine moment, take bath and wear clean clothes before performing puja. According to the scriptures, the husband and wife sit together at the time of Havan. They invoke all the deities before setting fire in havankund. A fire is lighted using mango wood and camphor in the incinerator and the couple offers prayers to all gods and goddesses. Along with pooja rituals, charity is also considered auspicious on this day.
