Ideas Of India 3.0: Piyush Pandey- Chief Advisor, Ogilvy; Prasoon Pandey- Advertising Film Director and Ila Arun- Actor, Singer & Writer addressed the third edition of ABP Network's Ideas of India Summit sharing their views and presenting melodious songs on a session titled 'Family Values: Blending Tradition with Modernity', moderated by Vir Sanghvi. In the session, the three of them discussed the cultural diversity of India emphasising that India is about its people.
Their Idea Of India:
Talking about their Idea of India, the three of them discussed the concepts of unity in diversity and the respect people need to have of each other's culture.
Piyush Pandey said, "We don't need to have an idea for India, India is an idea- we need to enjoy, respect and cultivate the idea of India."
Adding to him, Prasoon Pandey said, "We are like a big joint family with each person having a different colour and there are different things to learn from each and everyone. They enrich your life experience, and I think our country is a bit like that. Our ideas are rooted to the country. So, I don't think any other country as such a rich tapestry as India has."
Lastly, Ila Arun said, "I am from that era where there was unity in diversity and this is India's own idea and we were taught to respect everyone, accept other people's ideas, love all languages and stay to our roots to go forward in life."
About Life In Jaipur:
The Pandey siblings recalled their childhood mentioning that they were 9 brothers and sisters and said that the fact that they were brought up in Jaipur was the greatest thing.
Piyush Pandey discussed about their childhood and how people loved and respected each other. He also gave insights into the emotions of togetherness among neighbours recalling how he had two bowls of dals for dinner one night saying that a neighbour had shared her's with him since he liked it.
"Even if there was a marriage at someone's home, then others' households would also be full because people used to send thier guests to stay. So, to be born, and grow up in such an environment where we would learn from the whole of India, is I feel the biggest gift from Jaipur," he said.
Bombay And Afterward:
Belonging to a fairly small town like Jaipur and coming to Bombay to make it big in their respective fields- the three of them gave credit to their roots for whatever they have achieved till date.
Talking about this, Prasoon said, "We really appreciate the environment in which we were brought up and that has shaped ourselves today. I am the youngest of our siblings and when I was born, my mother had created the best art school for me because there was somebody learning painting, or sitar, or theatre and whatnot! So, it was all happening around me."
"There is great joy in doing things together and I think that is missing nowadays. All that has got captured in our heads and we are just drawing that material and producing it as commercials. People say it's my idea but actually it is not so, it is a culmination of all that I have seen and learnt throughout my childhood," he added.
As conversation flowed, Ila Arun also recalled her love for folk songs that came from the streets of Jaipur. She said, "The songs that I sing, I credit them to my house help at that time, the driver and the local women who used to come and sing. So, if you are conencted to your culture, you don't need anything else."
