New Delhi: As per Panchang, October 15, 2021, Friday is the tenth day of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This date is known as Vijay Dashami and Dusshera.

The festival of Dusshera has special significance in the Hindu religion. It is believed that on this day, Lord Ram killed Ravan and liberated the earth from his tyranny. This festival is also a celebration of the victory of good over evil. On Vijay Dashami, weapons are also worshipped.

Ravan Dahan will be performed on Dashami on October 15. As per the tradition, the effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad are also burnt, along with the effigy of Ravana.

According to Panchang, on this day the moon will transit in Capricorn. It is Shravan nakshatra on Friday.
