Can’t Visit Kedarnath? Follow This Ritual At Home To Seek Lord Shiva’s Blessings

Kedarnath Dham: The Char Dham Yatra has begun, and Kedarnath is the third shrine. The doors of Kedarnath will open from May 2. But what if you’re unable to visit Kedarnath? Here's what you can do.

Kedarnath Dham: It is believed that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is home to 33 crore deities, and many mythological stories are associated with this sacred land. Every year, as soon as the doors of Kedarnath Dham open, lakhs of devotees begin their journey to seek blessings from Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is not just a location—it is a divine pilgrimage where every grain of soil is believed to embody the presence of Lord Shiva.

Kedarnath Dham Opens For Devotees

On Friday, May 2, 2025, the sacred portals of Baba Kedarnath were opened at 7 AM with the chanting of Vedic mantras. After the doors open, devotees will be able to visit and offer prayers for the next six months. Prior to this, the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham were opened on April 30, while the final Dham, Badrinath, is scheduled to open on May 4, 2025.

Everyone longs to reach Kedarnath and have a glimpse of Baba. However, if for any reason you're unable to visit, don't be disheartened—you can still receive Lord Shiva’s blessings while staying at home. Here's what you can do.

What To Do If You’re Not Visiting Kedarnath Dham

  • If, for any reason, you are unable to visit Kedarnath Dham, you can establish a Shivling at home by following certain special rules. However, it is important to ensure that the Shivling is installed with full rituals and proper procedures as prescribed.
  • At home, the Shivling should be installed in the proper direction, and its size should not be larger than the size of your thumb. If a Shivling is already present at home, you should worship that one, as it's advised not to keep more than one Shivling in the house. Offer water regularly to the Shivling using a brass or copper vessel as part of the daily ritual.
  • Even if you are unable to undertake the journey to Kedarnath, you can still awaken a sense of devotion by remembering the sacred land of Uttarakhand and Lord Kedarnath with a pure heart. This, too, is considered a form of spiritual pilgrimage. To truly see God, one must look within, for the divine resides in every particle of existence.
