Can A Diet Rich In Vitamin-D Reduce The Risk Of Severe COVID-19?

When it comes to preventing COVID-19 and reducing the risk of serious infections, research has shown that foods rich in vitamin D can prove to be very effective. COVID-19 is a contagious respiratory disease that affects the entire body. Therefore, amidst the emergence of new variants, it becomes important to use the right diet to protect oneself from the virus. 

In fact, a team of researchers has found that people with vitamin D deficiency have a 1.77-fold increased risk of contracting the Coronavirus. The team analyzed the data for 489 patients and worked out the results. In an interview, researcher Dr. Mejal told that vitamin D is an effective remedy against the Coronavirus. After taking precautionary measures like wearing masks, hand hygiene, he believes that taking vitamin D supplements is the way to prevent the virus.

Now that it is being said that foods containing vitamin D are effective in preventing Corona, they are also known for other benefits. Some benefits of eating vitamin D rich food: 

Vitamin D helps the body's ability to absorb calcium, which in turn prevents bone diseases such as osteoporosis.

Vitamin D is also known to prevent seasonal depression in people. 

Apart from Coronavirus, it protects against other diseases as well. 

It also reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
