In a chat with ABP Live over a video call, Ankur spoke about his journey, his favourite collaborators and the secret behind his relatable reels.
Here are some excerpts from the interview:
How did you start your journey of content creation?
"Initially, it was all related to dance and from 2017 onwards I started making videos. I wondered how to make my videos unique, but that was not happening. Later on, it worked out."
What was the reason behind having your Instagram handle Ánkur Agarwal Vines'?
"Actually, there was no other name that I could think of and keeping the name as 'vines' was easy because they work better. We are planning to replace 'Ankur Agarwal Vines' with 'Ankur Agarwal Act"
What is your inspiration behind creating those reels?
"I come from a middle-class Indian family, so whatever I show in my videos, those things keep happening in our daily routine. It's like that only. I keep observing things and then create reels out of them."

What do you do to make your content relatable to the audience?
"I try to keep my content natural. We have never used a filter in any of our content to date. Another thing that we do is- take live locations. A lot of people use green curtains but I feel by doing that, the reel loses its originality and does not have the feel."
"We mostly target youth within the age group of 20-25 years. Along with that, we also target moms. So, nowadays, we keep on receiving messages from mothers. I am a very family-oriented person and I have always stayed with my mom. So, I have always observed her- the way she reacts when any guest is supposed to come and all other things. I find some of these really funny."

There was a reel in which you dressed up as a crow. How did that idea strike you?
"I was not getting any unique ideas, so I and my friend were watching some reels and I heard the sound of a crow in one of them... I found that very fascinating and both of us wrote the scripts. There are also difficult things that we do. Once we got on top of a train we had such a bond that we knew everything would be alright. All the cameras work and management is done by him."

Who is your favourite collaborator to date?
"I take inspiration from all of them. One collaboration that I did was with Shubham Gaur and that was a really good learning experience. So, I can't really name anyone in particular. All the people I have collaborated with have been learning experiences for me and I really look up to them. They are like a friend and are really welcoming."
