Kerala Police Arrest Army Jawan For False Statement About 'Attack' On Him
The friend of the army jawan reportedly told the police that Shine Kumar created the whole act in order to become "famous".
A soldier who claimed that six miscreants assaulted him and wrote 'PFI' on his back near his home in Kollam was taken into custody along with his friend for giving a false statement against the incident on Tuesday. The police said that the action will be initiated against the Jawan after verifying the contents of the statements.
Talking to PTI, a senior police officer said, "No arrests have been recorded in the case so far and the statements of the soldier -- Shine Kumar -- and his friend were being recorded."
The officer said that the soldier was giving multiple reasons for making the statement so they should be verified.
The friend of the soldier also reportedly told the police that Shine Kumar created the whole act in order to become famous.
The friend alleged that Kumar told him to write 'PFI' on his back.
He said, "I was drunk, so I initially wrote DFI, but he (Kumar) said to write PFI. So I made it PFI. Then he asked me to beat him up, but I said I couldn't because I was drunk."
"Then he asked me to drag him on the ground and lay down, but I could not in my intoxicated state. So he asked me to tape his mouth and hands and then to leave. So I did that," the friend claimed, as reported by PTI.
Meanwhile, the police recovered the green paint, brush and tape used by Kumar.
Earlier, the soldier claimed that he was taken to a secluded place, kicked and painted 'PFI' on his back by miscreants. The police previously registered a case based on the complaint of Shine Kumar. The Kadakkal police in Kollam district registered a case under sections 143, 147, 323,341, 153 and 149 IPC.
The soldier is posted in the Indian Army's Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Corps.
