'CAA Was An Assurance Made By Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru': Kerala Governor Arif Khan
The statement of Kerala Governor came on the day the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the first set of citizenship certificates under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan alleged that Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) was a promise made by India's founding leaders to those affected by partition. He said that the CAA should have been implemented several years ago and claimed that it was an assurance by freedom fighters Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru and Sardar Patel.

The statement of Kerala Governor came a day after Ministry of Home Affairs issued the first set of citizenship certificates under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla gave the certificates to 14 people in New Delhi.
