Is Govt Of India Dead?: Siddaramaiah On Maharashtra's Health Scheme For 865 Villages Along Karnataka Border

Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah said that the move is not "fair in the federal system" and urged the central government to intervene.

Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah on Wednesday questioned the health scheme to be introduced by the Maharashtra government in all the disputed villages falling in the state. Siddaramaiah claimed that the Mahatma Jyotibha Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana of the Maharashtra government is going to be introduced in 865 villages belonging to Karnataka.

He said that the move is not "fair in the federal system" and urged the central government to intervene.

"Maharashtra govt introduced Mahatma Jyotibha Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana in 865 villages which belong to Karnataka as per Mahajan Commission report. As Maha govt wants to introduce health schemes in villages which's with us,then question arises if Govt of India is dead?," said Siddaramaiah while speaking to reporters in Karnataka, according to news agency ANI.

"Is the Government of Karnataka dead? This is not fair in the federal system,  And it's not a good thing. So I demand that the central government should interfere immediately: Siddaramaiah added.

Speaking further Siddaramaiah said that the senior leaders of the Eknath Shinde government are repeatedly giving statements on the issue for which the Centre should sack the Maharashtra government.

"Senior leader of Shinde government are giving statements. Repeatedly they are doing such mischievous activities. So I demand the Central government should dismiss this Eknath Shinde government. It's a threat to the government of India & federal system," said Siddaramaiah at the press conference.

He also criticised the BJP government in the state and sought the resignation of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for not yet reacting on the issue.

"Our CM miserably failed to protect the interest of the state & to protect the interests of the Kannadigas. He has no right to continue as CM. So I demand his resignation,' said Siddaramaiah.
