Pooja At Mahmud Gawan Madrasa A 100-Year-Old Tradition, Says Bidar BJP Leader

He also said that the pooja was done with the permission of the police district administration.

Chennai: After nine people were booked in connection with trespassing and performing pooja at Mahmud Gawan Madrasa in Bidar on Thursday, BJP’s Bidar District General Secretary Ishwar Singh Thakur on Friday said that the pooja is nothing new and some miscreants are creating chaos in the society using it for no reason.

Addressing the reporters, Ishwar Singh Thakur said, “There was a Lakshmi idol in Mahmud Gawan Madrasa. This idol was worshiped for hundreds of years. This time too, we went to offer pooja to the goddess during the procession.”.

“Whoever has put the key to the gate has gone inside and worshiped according to the procedure. Some miscreants are creating chaos in the society for no reason. This pooja is nothing new, the pooja is done with the permission of the police district administration,” he said.

On Thursday, a group of people trespassed into the Madrassa which is a heritage site and performed pooja. It was also said that the mob broke a coconut and damaged the place during the pooja but the police did not make any confirmation regarding the damage.

However, police booked nine persons and arrested four of them in connection with the incident.
