'Not Necessary For Me To Contest': Kumaraswamy Amid Seat Negotiations With BJP

Further, Karnataka JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy said, Congress must stop blaming BJP or Narendra Modi ji.

Karnataka Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday declared that it was not necessary for him to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. Taking a swipe at the Congress, Kumaraswamy called on the party to provide a detailed account of the fate of the five guarantee schemes that were promised during their election campaigns.

Earlier, it was speculated that HDK would contest Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Mandya seat in Karnataka based on BJP's directions.

Addressing the reporters, JD (S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on contesting Lok Sabha elections said, "It's not necessary for me to contest."

HDK said, "Congress must give information on what happened to the five guarantee schemes announced by the party as part of their poll promises. Congress must stop blaming BJP or Narendra Modi ji."

Earlier, DK Shivakumar took a dig at JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy for joining the protest in the district headquarters city of Mandya against the removal of Hanuman flag. Shivakumar said,"It appears that Kumaraswamy has nearly merged his party with the BJP. Whatever they choose to do is their internal party affair. He can don any colored flag (shawl) he likes."

Asserting that the BJP lacks a stronghold in Mandya, Shivakumar, as per PTI, suggested that the BJP is leveraging the strength of the JD(S) in the region. He added, "Let's observe the dynamics and see who gains the upper hand."

Kumaraswamy, on Monday, took part in the protest donning a saffron shawl, blaming the Congress government for the unrest in Keragodu and accusing it of mishandling the situation.
