Karnataka: NHAI Issues Notice To Mysore Corporation For Removal Of Dome-Structured Bus Shelter

The NHAI has granted the civic body one-week time for the removal of the structure

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Tuesday issued notice to the Mysore city corporation asking for the removal of a dome-structured bus shelter in Karnataka's Mysore. The NHAI has granted the civic body one-week time for the removal of the structure.

In a notice dated November 15, NHAI said, "The bus stop has been constructed even though many times our engineers have stopped the work within the national highway right of way. In connection with this, it is advised to remove the structure constructed to achieve controversial kind of issues which is not acceptable and accordingly one week time has been given to remove them.

"Since it has developed communal issues as per the national Highway Administration Act this may be treated as notice otherwise as per the Highway Administration Act 2003 action will be initiated."

Meanwhile, SA Ramdas, MLA of Krishnaraja constituency clarified that the bus stop was built in resemblance to Mysore Palace. "In order to showcase the historical and cultural significance of Mysore, bus stops are to be constructed in resemblance to the Mysore Palace in several places of the constituency with different designs, facilitated by the minister's fund. This is to be constructed with a budget of Rs 10 lakh and the construction work is in progress," said the MLA, as quoted by India Today.

Earlier, BJP MP Pratap Simha said he saw it on social media and if the structure is not demolished he threatened to demolish by using a JCB.
