A fire engulfed a firecracker godown and shop in Attibele, resulting in the loss of 12 lives on Saturday. The Chief Minister also offered condolences to the family of the deceased workers. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm. Swift action from the fire brigade contained the blaze, but the fire resulted in fatalities.

According to local authorities cited by news agency PTI, four individuals, including the shop owner, sustained burn injuries during the blaze and received immediate medical attention. One among them, critically injured, has been transferred to another medical facility for further treatment, PTI reported.

Firefighters deployed five fire engines to tackle the blaze, successfully bringing it under control. The godown had stocked firecrackers worth several lakhs in preparation for the upcoming Deepavali festival. The stored firecrackers ignited, intensifying the blaze.

Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) Mallikarjun Baladandi informed, "Some employees were working inside the shop when the fire broke out. We have recovered six charred bodies from the spot. Search operations are still underway to ascertain if any more employees are still trapped inside the gutted shop", as quoted by PTI.

In a separate incident, a fire broke out at a plastic waste godown in Kamruddin Nagar, west Delhi, late last night. No injuries were reported in this case. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) responded promptly to a call regarding the fire in the Ranhaula area, which was received at around 12:44 am on Saturday. Approximately 21 fire tenders were mobilized to combat the blaze, which was successfully extinguished by 3 am.

DFS officials disclosed that the fire had consumed plastic waste and corrugated rolls in an open area, leading to partial structural damage. There were no casualties reported during this incident.
