Karnataka: Muslim Man Stabbed To Death In Mangaluru, Section 144 Imposed
The death of the youth has come at a time when Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai was in the district to pay homage to the BJP leader.
Chennai: Two days after the death of a BJP worker in Karnataka, a 23-year-old Muslim man was hacked to death by miscreants at Surathkal of Mangaluru district in Karnataka on Thursday. The police immediately issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 in important areas including Surathkal, Mulki, Perambur and Bajpe to avoid any untoward events.
According to a tweet on ANI, the deceased youth was identified as Fazil and he was attacked with lethal weapon by a group of miscreants.
On Thursday, N Shashi Kumar, Mangaluru Police Commissioner said, "At around 8 pm (on July 28), there was an incident where a 23-year-old man was brutally attacked by 4-5 people near Krishnapura Katipalla road, Surathkal. The man was immediately shifted to a hospital but was declared dead."
"We are taking up a complaint of an eyewitness who was with the deceased during the incident and a case of murder in Surathkal police station. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the situation in important areas under Mangaluru city commissionerate, we've imposed prohibitory orders u/s 144," he said.

The Commissioner also ordered to keep all the liquor shops in the area closed till July 29. He also requested Muslim leaders to perform Friday prayers at their homes.
Shashi Kumar said, "The motive behind the incident and the identity of the culprits is being investigated... I appeal to all the citizens to not succumb to any rumours being spread by vested-interest groups. Due justice will be done quickly & fairly."
Meanwhile, the murder took place while Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai was in the district to pay homage to the BJP leader.
On Tuesday, BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Nettar was hacked to death by a bike-borne trio in Bellare.
