Karnataka: Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi Joins Bharat Jodo Yatra In Mandya

On the 29th day of Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress interim President on Thursday joined the rally led by party MP Rahul Gandhi in Karnataka's Mandya. The yatra started today after a two-day Dussehra break. Sonia Gandhi arrived in Mysuru on Monday at noon. The yatra entered the Karnataka leg on October 1 after 21 days in Kerala. 

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was seen walking alongside her MP son Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders. On the occasion of Dussehra on Wednesday (October 5), she visited Bheemanakolli Temple in Beguru and offered prayers.

Since the first day of the Karnataka leg, the party's senior leaders from the state have been taking part in the yatra alongside Rahul Gandhi. Karnataka Congress President, DK Shivakumar, said that it was matter of pride for veteran Sonia Gandhi to walk on the streets of Mandya.

"After Vijayadashami, there will be vijaya in Karnataka. We are proud that Sonia Gandhi has come to walk on the streets of Karnataka. We are coming to power in the state, the BJP is on the way to shutting its shop," said the party president in Karnataka.

'Countdown For BJP's Fall Has Begun'

"The response we have garnered from a BJP-ruled state in Karnataka shows that the countdown for BJP's fall in the next election has begun," said Congress MP Jairam Ramesh.

"The march resumed after an hour's bus journey to padayatra starting point near Mandya. Congress will join at around 8.00 am," tweeted Jairam Ramesh ahead of Sonia Gandhi joining the rally.

The rally is covering a distance of 25 km every day. The march was aimed to cover as many as 12 states in around 150 days. The rally will be in Karnataka for 21 days, which started in October 1.
