In the meantime, other passengers intervened, and one of them recorded the incident.

Bengaluru's Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) found itself embroiled in a controversy after reports emerged that officials at Doddakallasandra Metro Station prevented a young man from boarding a metro train due to his unbuttoned shirt. However, after the claims, BMRCL expressed its commitment to treating all passengers equally.

According to IANS, the staff members of the Doddakallasandra Metro Station requested a youngster to button up his shirt and ensured that he was wearing clean clothes before allowing him to enter the Metro station. They also reportedly told him that he would not be allowed to enter the metro without buttoning up.

In the meantime, other passengers intervened, and one of them recorded the incident. They also subsequently shared it on social media.

Tagging BMRCL and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, the co-passenger posted on X, "One more cloth/attire related incident happened in front of me just now. A labourer was stopped and told to stitch up his top two buttons. When did Namma Metro become like this?"

However, The BMRCL reiterated its commitment to treating all passengers equally.

"No differentiation will be made on the basis of whether the passengers are rich or poor, men or women. The officials suspected that the passenger was in an inebriated state, and he was made to stand to ensure he would not trouble women and children while travelling on the Metro. After counselling, he was allowed to travel," an official said, as per the report.

Earlier, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation had faced public backlash for an incident where a farmer was denied entry onto the train. The farmer, who wore worn-out clothes and carried a bag on his head.
