DK Suresh Statement: BJP Says Cong Leader Has No Right To Remain MP, Moves Petition In Court For Action

Amid controversy over Congress leader DK Suresh's statement on "separate south nation", BJP leaders launched an all-out attack and moved a petition at a court in Mangaluru on Friday seeking action against DK Suresh. The sibling of Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Suresh criticized the Central government for what he perceived as biased fund allocation favoring northern states over southern ones in the interim Budget presented on Thursday. He expressed concern that if this trend persisted it could lead to demands for a separate country.

In a strong reaction, BJP leaders from different states, including Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva, Jharkhand Chief Babulal Marandi, Punjab Unit General Secretary Anil Sarin, and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Ministers Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, criticized DK Suresh for openly discussing the idea of breaking India.

During a press conference, BJP leader and former Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed his disapproval, directing criticism towards Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, as well as party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and their allies in the I.N.D.I.A. bloc. Prasad highlighted their alleged "conspicuous silence" regarding Suresh's "shameful" and "unconstitutional" remarks.

On Friday, BJP leader P Vikas moved a petition at a court in Mangaluru city over the alleged remarks of Suresh. 

According to IANS, Vikas said: "MP Suresh has made anti-national and seditious statements. The complaint was submitted to the Police Commissioner of Mangaluru and Mangaluru North Police Station. Now, the petition is taken to the court."

"In spite of being a Parliamentarian, he has spoken about dividing the country," he said. 

The petitioner has requested legal action under IPC Section 124A and urged the court to issue directives for the registration of an FIR. The petitioner is seeking an investigation into the matter, specifically calling for it to be conducted by the Mangaluru North Police Station Officer.
