A 32-year-old Bengaluru man died on Tuesday after drowning in a stormwater drain. The deceased identified as Lokesh allegedly slipped and fell into the drain. His body was recovered around 5 kilometres from the spot. Karnataka's Kempapura Agrahara Police Station has registered a case of unnatural death into the matter, reported news agency ANI.

As per reports, his neighbours tried to warn him about the danger, however, he said that he was trying to gauge the depth of water. Despite people asking him to step back, he didn't stop. Ultimately he slipped into the drain and drowned. His body was taken to the Victoria hospital for post-mortem, reported the Hindu.

Earlier on Sunday a 23-year-old Silicon Valley IT employee died after her car got submerged in water in an underpass at KR Circle in the heart of the City. The deceased was identified as Bhanurekha, a resident of Pragathi Nagar near Electronics City, she used to work at Infosys. The incident took place when she was out with her parents for sightseeing. While returning, the cab driver Harisha drove into a flooded underpass and water gushed into the car.

The driver and Bhanurekha's parents made it out while she died in the rear seat of the car. She was declared dead at St Martha’s Hospital where she was taken after the fire and emergency personnel carried out a rescue operation.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while talking about the unfortunate incident said, “There were barricades erected near the underpass, but due to strong winds and rain, they had fallen down. The driver should not have entered the underpass. When the car went there, water gushed inside and the doors got jammed. The doctors said that she was dead by the time she was brought to the hospital.”
