Every Indian citizen has right to move or to live anywhere in country: Congress on Raj Thackeray's remark

New Delhi [India], October 1 (ANI): Stating that migration is a continuous phenomenon in India, the Congress on Sunday said every Indian citizen has the right to move, to take shelter and to live anywhere in the country, adding that nobody can stop them from doing so.

The statement comes after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief RajThackeray stated that "Why do we need terrorists or enemies like Pakistan? It seems our own railway is enough to kill people."

Speaking to ANI, Congress leader P.C. Chacko said, "In India, every citizen one has right to move, to take shelter and to live anywhere in any country and nobody can stop them. The Shiv Sena should change their mindsets."

He added that comparing railway accidents to war or insurgency or terrorists are not at all sensible way of expressing one's personal opinion.

Reacting to Thackeray remark that stampedes will happen till migrants continue to pour in, senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit termed the former's statement as absurd, stating that Railway stations are made so that any human being could travel across the entire nation.

However, he further raised question on Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government for blatantly ignoring the railway safety.

On Friday, 23 people were killed and over 39 seriously got injured in a rush-hour stampede at Mumbai's Elphinstone railway station's foot over bridge. (ANI)
