Here is a glossary of terminology for you to learn about the G20 in a simple way.
Group Of G20 Or G20
The Group of Twenty of G20 are a grouping of major advanced and emerging economies. The G20 leaders meet once a year in an event known as G20 Leaders' Summit. The grouping has an annual rotation of the presidency among its member states. Presently, India holds the G20 presidency.
Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and the European Union form the G20.
Sherpa
A sherpa is the representative or personal envoy of a G20 country's leader at preparatory meetings. The sherpa is responsible for advising and guiding the leader and negotiating on their behalf. These sherpas work with finance ministers of their respective countries to set the agenda of the summit. Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant is India's G20 Sherpa.
Troika Countries
It is a grouping of the current, immediate past and future presidents of the G20. The G20 country holding the presidency works together with its predecessor and successor to ensure continuity of the agenda.
Presently, India holds the G20 presidency. Indonesia held the G20 presidency in 2022 and Brazil will take over from India.
Thus, Indonesia, India and Brazil are the "Troika" countries right now. For the first time, the 'Troika' comprises only developing nations.

Apart from the main G20 Leaders' Summit, the G20 president country holds meetings of non-government, autonomous groups with whom the G20 works. There are nine engagement groups and they are tasked with making policy recommendations.
The nine engagement groups are Business 20, Civil 20, Labor 20, Parliament 20, Science 20, SAI 20, Startup 20, Think 20, Urban 20, Women 20, and Youth 20.
Invitee/Guest Countries
Each year, the country holding the G20 presidency invites guest countries to participate in the summit. This is basically seen as a form of diplomatic outreach by the host country to increase the legitimacy of the G20.
