Ideas Of India 2025: Famous motivational speaker, monk, and author Gaur Gopal Das, inspires 21 million followers daily through social media. He has addressed the British Parliament, spoken at the United Nation, and more. In his session titled 'Mastering the Mind,' he shared insights on how conversations are better than lectures, life experiences, and the 4 ‘N’s to maintain sanity in corporate chaos. Later, in an engaging conversation with senior journalist and TV anchor Chitra Tripathi, he spoke about mental health, importance of achieving success with balance, and more.

"The Mind Is A Very Difficult Entity To Manage, It Just Doesn't Go To Sleep', Says Gaur Gopal Das

During his session 'Mastering Our Mind,' Gaur Gopal Das highlighted how a child can be put to sleep easily, yet the mind remains restless. Because of this many corporate professionals struggle with insomnia, sleep disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, and chronic stress. Despite being surrounded by people they feel lost and lonely.

Describing the modern corporate lifestyle, he summed it up: "Stressed, Depressed, Yet Well Dressed."

4 ‘N’s That Could Save Your Sanity In Corporate Chaos

The First 'N' Is Neglect

Gaur Gopal Das talked about the importance of neglecting the mind's unnecessary chatter. He compares it to a child who cries even louder to seek their parent's attention. Similarly, he explains that the excessive attention to mind just amplifies the mind's games rather than calming them. He advises channeling thoughts constructively elsewhere and engaging the mind.

He sums up this point perfectly: "Mental rest will come when you start ignoring and neglecting things that don't deserve priority."

The Second 'N' Is 'Negotiating'

To explain this point, the speaker mentioned how everyone has experienced negotiation, especially with children. Parents help them understand what's important while allowing some indulgence in what they love. He compares this to how we should manage our minds.

Gaur Gopal Das also draws a parallel to fitness enthusiats who follow a strict diet for six days and follow a 'cheat day' on the seventh day. However, he warned people how the mind is tricky and what starts as a cheat day can easily turn into a cheat week.

He adviced people to negotiate with your mind and observe the results.

The Third 'N' Is 'Note It Down'

The Fourth 'N' Is 'Non-Judgemental Observation'

To explain this point, Gaur Gopal Das used an example of birds flying above a house. While we notice them, we don't pay much attention, unless a bird builds a nest inside. He compares this to mental chatter and overthinking.

For mental rest, the speaker believes that there is a need to stop excessive mental chatter. To do this, you need to create a distance from your thoughts and feelings, just like birds come and go. If the thoughts persist and don't leave, then it's essential to seek support from a counsellor, psychiatrist, mentor, or psychological professional.

He advises people to classify their thoughts and feelings as separate from themselves, a practice that helps calm the mind and promote relaxation.
