As J&K’s Covid-19 Situation Remains Grim, Centre Diploys Team Of Doctors & Experts To Assist Local Administration

91 travelers are among the 1,590 fresh cases of covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total to 58,244 infections.

Srinagar: Union Health ministry has deputed a high-level team of doctors and experts to assist the J&K government in the Covid-19 fight as the situation is turning from bad to worse. This was disclosed by officials of the J&K government today, saying that the situation is bad in the Jammu region. ALSO READ | J&K: Nearly 17 Lakh Domicile Certificates Issued Till September 14; Congress Demands White Paper According to the officials, Govt of India is deputing a team of senior doctors and experts to J&K, which will help local experts with patient management, treatment protocols, oxygen availability and other medical issues to help manage the surge in Covid positive cases particularly in Jammu. As per experts, J&K seems to be fighting a losing battle against Corona as the number of positive cases is surging every passing day. On the 14th day straight, J&K recorded over 1K positive cases, indicating some serious lapses in the fight against the infection. Jammu and Kashmir reported 1590 cases of novel coronavirus including 91 travelers in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 58244. While, with 18 more deaths reported during the last 24 hours, the death toll is inching towards the thousand mark and stood at 932. According to the officials, 832 cases reported from the Jammu region and 758 from Kashmir Valley, this is for the fortnight now that Jammu and Kashmir recorded fresh infections in excess of one thousand daily. ALSO READ | Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Tests Positive For Covid-19, Goes Into Isolation Giving district-wise breakup of the cases, officials that Srinagar reported 225 infections, Budgam 119, Baramulla 92, Pulwama 70, Anantnag 37, Kupwara 74, Bandipora 42, Kulgam 13, Ganderbal 86, Jammu 221, Udhampur 44, Rajouri 147, Kathua 80, Samba 39, Poonch 92, Ramban 39, Doda 114, Reasi 24 and Kishtwar 32. Moreover, they said, 747 more Covid-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals 275 from Jammu Division and 472 from Kashmir Valley. While the Kashmir valley was initially hit badly by the dreaded infection, the Jammu region remained relatively free. But now the tables have turned and infections are spreading really fast in the Jammu region with 19798 positive and 10954 active positive cases topping the list. The Kashmir division though had a higher number of positive cases at 38,446 but has managed to control the spread with only 8,549 active positive cases today.
