Corona Cases in India: Highest Single Day Spike Of 83,883 Covid 19 Cases, Over 4.5 Crore Samples Tested, Death Toll Tops 67K

Coronavirus Update: India witnessed the highest surge in Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Corona Cases in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are still on a massive rise. The recovery rate of the country is at 77.09 percent.

Coronavirus Updates: India recorded the highest surge of 83,883 corona positive cases in the last 24 hours. The country's overall tally has mounted to 38,53,406, while the death toll climbed to 67,376 as 1,043 people succumbed to the disease in a single day, according to the data provided by the Health Ministry. These are India's 5 worst affected states by Covid 19 contributing to the caseload of the country:  India’s 5 worst-affected states:
  • Maharashtra: 8,25,739 (includes recoveries, deaths and active cases)
  • Tamil Nadu: 4,55,531
  • Andhra Pradesh: 4,39,959
  • Karnataka: 3,61,341
  • Uttar Pradesh: 2,41,439
Yesterday, the health ministry had said that 54 percent of the total coronavirus cases in India were reported among people from 18 to 44 years of age while patients in 60 years and above bracket account for 51 percent deaths. It also said that India’s case fatality rate (CFR) stands at 1.76 percent, one of the lowest across the world. The global CFR stands at 3.3 percent. 4,55,09,380 samples tested in India till 2nd September The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 4,55,09,380 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till  September 2. Of these, 11,72,179 were tested yesterday. '76 Rich Nations Committed to COVAX' Seventy-six wealthy nations are now committed to joining a global COVID-19 vaccine allocation plan co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO) that aims to help buy and fairly distribute the shots, the project's co-lead said. Seth Berkley, chief executive of the GAVI vaccines alliance, said the coordinated plan, known as COVAX, now has Japan, Germany, Norway and more than 70 other nations signed up, agreeing in principle to procure COVID-19 vaccines through the facility for their populations.
