CM Arvind Kejriwal Asks Experts To Audit Covid-19 Deaths In Delhi, Seeks Suggestions Amid Allegations Of Discrepancy

The Delhi government has been attacked on several instances wherein opposition leaders alleged that it was hiding deaths caused by Coronavirus infections. Now CM Kejriwal willing to let an audit happen over the same. Know all about it here.

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has requested experts to audit cases of Coronavirus deathS and suggest measures to curb the fatalities caused by the disease, while the national capital battles the third wave of infections. ALSO READ | Supreme Court Issues Notice To Centre, States Seeking Response On Plea To Fix Price For RT-PCR Test Kejriwal, on Wednesday, made the request at a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal. "At the meeting, the chief minister asked experts to audit death cases and suggest measures which could reduce deaths in the national capital," a source told news agency PTI. Delhi's three BJP-led municipal corporations have been alleging inconsistencies in the official death count in comparison to the number of deaths recorded with funerals at the crematoria and burial grounds. Delhi government data reveals that the total number of Coronavirus deaths as of November 23 was 8,512. On the other hand, as per the civic bodies 10,318 funerals have been carried out. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the national capital recorded more than 100 Covid fatalities for the fifth consecutive day with a total of 109 deaths as against 121 on Monday. In terms of the national Coronavirus tally, As of 25 November - The confirmed cases were 92,22,216, and with 86,42,771 patients discharged the recovery rate was 93.72%.
