Covid Update: India Records Dip In Fresh Cases, Delhi's Positivity Rate Goes Up To 7.72

India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,30,45,527, while the active cases increased to 11,860.

New Delhi: After reporting a sharp spike in Covid infections, crossing the 2000-mark on Sunday, India has now registered a decline in cases. The country logged 1,247 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of new cases, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,30,45,527, while the active cases increased to 11,860, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The death toll climbed to 5,21,966 with one fresh fatality being reported from Uttar Pradesh, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 per cent, the ministry said.

An increase of 318 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.31 per cent and the weekly positivity rate as 0.34 per cent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,11,701, while the case fatality rate was recorded a 1.21 per cent.

Delhi

The national capital continues to record over 500 fresh Covid infections. Delhi's COVID-19 positivity rate on Monday jumped to 7.72 per cent even as the city recorded 501 fresh cases, 16 less than the previous day, according to health department data.

The national capital on Sunday recorded a 4.21 per cent positivity rate.

With the new cases, the city's infection tally has risen to 18,69,051 while the death toll stood at 26,160 as no new fatality was reported.

The city had on Sunday recorded 517 Covid cases with no deaths.
