Covid Protocols: Masks Mandatory In All BMC Hospitals From April 11 — Details
The decision comes amidst rising concerns about the rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that wearing masks will be mandatory in all BMC hospitals in Mumbai starting tomorrow, April 11. The decision was made during a meeting held by BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal earlier today to discuss the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to this, an appeal will also be made to all BMC employees to wear masks while on duty. The appeal will extend to citizens above 65 years of age as well, in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.
The decision comes amidst rising concerns about the rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai.
According to data from the state health department, Maharashtra reported 788 new COVID-19 cases and one fatality on Sunday. In the past 24 hours, the number of infections has increased by 246 in the state. These new cases have brought the cumulative tally of COVID-19 cases in the state to 81,49,929, with a death toll of 1,48,459.
On Friday, Maharashtra reported 926 new cases and three fatalities, while on Saturday, the number of cases was 542.
Mumbai city reported 211 fresh cases on Sunday, marking the sixth consecutive day that the city has seen more than 200 new infections.
The COVID-19 fatality rate in Maharashtra is 1.82%, while the recovery rate is 98.12%.
Coronavirus Case In India Today
India logged 5,880 new coronavirus cases on Monday, while the active cases have increased to 35,199.
The death toll has increased to 5,30,979 with 14 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry data. While four deaths each were reported from Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, one each was reported from Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and two reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 6.91 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 3.67 per cent.
