Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, July 24: Union Health Ministry reported that India administered 45,74,298 Covid-19 vaccine doses on Saturday, taking cumulative vaccination coverage 43 crore (43,26,05,567).

Maharashtra reported 6,753 new COVID-19 cases and 167 fresh fatalities on Friday, taking the infection tally to 62,51,810 and the death toll to 1,31,205, a health department official said.
On Thursday, the state had recorded 7,302 new COVID-19 cases and 120 fatalities.
The official said as many as 5,979 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, pushing the number of recovered cases to 60,22,485.
The state now has 94,769 COVID-19 patients under treatment.
There are 5,52,702 people in home quarantine while 3,653 in institutional quarantine across the state, he said.
Maharashtra's COVID-19 recovery rate is 96.33 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.09 per cent, the official said.
The national capital reported 58 new COVID cases and one death in the last 24 hours, as per the daily health bulletin released by the Delhi government on Friday.
The national capital's daily test positivity rate stood at 0.9 per cent, the bulletin said.
On a positive note, 69 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the national capital's total number of recoveries to 14,10,164.
With one death getting reported on Friday, Delhi's overall COVID death toll rose to 25,041.
A total of 67,817 COVID samples were tested in the last 24 hours, including 43,213 through RT-PCR and 24,601 through the Rapid Antigen method.
At present, Delhi has 573 active cases, of which 167 are under home isolation.
On the other hand, with the daily test positivity rate crossing 13 per cent on Friday as 17,518 people turning COVID positive from 1,28,489 samples tested in the past 24 hours, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said lockdown norms will have to be strengthened.
"The average TPR in the past three days has been 12.1 per cent and in 11 out of the 14 districts in the state, the TPR is above 10 per cent. Hence those local bodies (408) in A and B category (TPR up to 10 per cent), offices will have to work with 50 per cent capacity and those in C category (355 local bodies with TPR between 10 to 15 per cent), will have 25 per cent staff, and in D category places (271 local bodies with TPR above 15 per cent), only essential services will be operational," he said.
He said all those government staff in these local bodies who are not working will be redeployed for COVID work.
There were 1,35,198 active cases on Friday as 11,067 people turned negative, taking the total cured in the state to 30,83,962.
A total of 132 COVID fresh deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 15,871.
Vijayan said with the third wave predicted, Kerala is on high alert and more emphasis will be given to contact tracing and vaccination.
"So far 1.24 crore people have been given one dose while 0.52 crore have got both the doses. We are sure that if there is adequate proper supply of vaccines by the Centre, then in a matter of three months we will be able to vaccinate 60 per cent of our people," he said.
Assam reports 23 COVID-19 deaths and 1,595 new cases
Assam on Saturday reported 23 more COVID-19 deaths, which took the toll to 5,114, pushing the total number of infections to 5,57,437, according to a bulletin issued by the National Health Mission (NHM). As many as 1,595 more people tested positive for the infection while currently, the state has 14,379 active COVID-19 cases.
Three fresh fatalities were reported from Lakhimpur while Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural, and Sivasagar each reported two deaths. Barpeta, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Morigaon, Nalbari, Tinsukia, and Udalguri reported one death each. The current death rate is 0.92 percent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347.
Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metropolitan district recorded the highest at 179, followed by Golaghat (164), Lakhimpur (119), and Dibrugarh (84). The new cases were detected out of 1,18,889 tests conducted during the day with the daily positivity rate at 1.34 per cent while 1,77,74,829 samples have been tested for COVID-19 to date.
As many as 1,788 people were cured of the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,36,597. The bulletin said, altogether 96,52,149 people have been inoculated in Assam, of whom 17,09, 974 have received both doses of the vaccine.
Mumbai reports 413 COVID-19 cases, nine deaths, 611 recoveries
Mumbai on Saturday reported 413 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths, taking the city's case tally to 7,33,757 and death toll to 15,766, a civic official said. With 611 people discharged from hospitals during the day, the recovery count rose to 7,09,809, he added. The metropolis now has 5,799 active cases.
With 35,021 samples being examined in the last 24 hours, the number of coronavirus tests carried out in the country's financial capital went up to 79,33,729, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's data showed.
The city's recovery rate is 97 per cent and the caseload doubling time stood at 1,241 days, as per BMC data. There are 62 sealed buildings and three containment zones in the city currently, civic officials said.
