Centre Expands Inoculation Drive, Covid Vaccination To Be Done On All Days In April Including Gazetted Holidays

Corona Vaccination: All Indians above 45 years of age can get the COVID-19 vaccine from April 1 as the country expands the inoculation drive to stem the recent spike in coronavirus infections. The government has now taken a significant step to provide Covid vaccination to people even during gazetted holidays in April 2021.

The massive surge in Covid cases in recent days has alarmed the country and in a bid to contain the Coronvirus government has taken an important step to expand the insulation drive.

Ia significant step to exponentially expand the countrywide Vaccination drive, the Centre has decided to operationalize both public and private sector COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) on all days of the month of April (from today till 30th April 2021).  The Centre has written to all States and UTs today and asked them to make necessary arrangements to provide COVID vaccination in these CVCs on all days of the month including gazetted holidays during April 2021, a PIB notification read.

This step has been taken after detailed deliberations with the States/UTs on 31st March 2021 to optimally utilize all COVID Vaccination Centres across the public and private sectors to ensure a rapid increase in the pace and coverage of COVID vaccination.

The Government had already started the COVID19 vaccination of all people above 45 years of age from 1st April 2021. Earlier, only frontline workers, those above the age of 60 and those aged 45 with underlying health conditions could get any of the two vaccines—Covishield and  Covaxin—approved by India.

In this phase too, registration will be done through cowin.gov.in portal. Here is all you need to know about the new phase of vaccination that will kick off from tomorrow.

For registration, you don't need Co-win mobile app. You will have to register through the portal cowin.gov.in. Or, you can register yourself through the Aarogya Setu app, which will lead you to the Co-win portal.

The log-in process is simple and OTP-based.

> No co-morbidity certificate will be required for registration, as vaccination is now open to everyone above the age of 45 years.

A photo identification will, however, be required. The details of the same, which will also be checked at the vaccination centre, will be cross-checked.
