Gears Of War Is Back: Multiplayer Beta For 'Reloaded' Drops This Month. Here's What To Expect

Get ready to chainsaw through Locusts once more — Gears Of War Reloaded beta access begins soon.

Gears Of War Reloaded: The iconic Gears of War franchise is storming back into the spotlight. With a ground-up 4K remaster of the original 2006 classic on the horizon, Gears of War: Reloaded is not just a nostalgia trip — it’s a bold new chapter. Ahead of its official launch on August 26, developer The Coalition has announced two multiplayer beta periods, giving fans an early chance to dive into the brutal action.

Two Beta Weekends, Classic Maps Return

Get ready to chainsaw through Locusts once more — beta access begins soon. The first multiplayer beta will run from June 13 to 15, offering Team Deathmatch on the beloved battlegrounds of Gridlock, Raven Down, and Gold Rush. The second beta wave follows on June 20 to 22, expanding the mayhem with King of the Hill on Canals, while Courtyard and War Machine join the Team Deathmatch rotation.

But not everyone will get to jump in. Access to the beta is limited to three groups: players who pre-order the game on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox PC, or Steam; those who owned a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before May 5; and subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

To sweeten the deal, pre-orders will also unlock two exclusive multiplayer character skins — Adam Fenix and Anya Stroud.

A Historic PlayStation Debut

This isn’t just a re-release — it’s a first in franchise history. Gears of War: Reloaded will mark the series' debut on PlayStation, a move that would’ve been unthinkable just a few years ago. And with cross-play multiplayer, gamers can squad up across platforms for the first time ever.

The remaster promises to deliver every ounce of the original's gritty gameplay, now reimagined in ultra-high fidelity. It’s the definitive way to relive the seminal shooter that helped define the Xbox 360 era — and it's reaching more gamers than ever before.

Reloaded, Then Reborn

This beta is more than just a pre-launch treat — it’s the opening act to a larger revival. Coming in 2026, Gears of War: E-Day will take fans even further back, reuniting players with Marcus and Dom during the early days of the Locust invasion. For long-time fans, it's the return of legends. For newcomers, it's a perfect entry point.
