Did Shahid Kapoor Charge Rs 30 Crore For Farzi And Vijay Sethupathi Rs 7 Crore?

Farzi focuses on a struggling artist who creates the ideal false note for a high-stakes fraud.

New Delhi: Shahid Kapoor made his eagerly anticipated digital debut with filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK helmed series ‘Farzi’. The team behind the critically acclaimed Amazon series 'The Family Man'—Raj and DK—created and wrote the show.

The series, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 10, focuses on a struggling artist who, after creating the ideal false note for a high-stakes fraud, is forced into the world of forgery.

Along with Kapoor, 'Farzi' boasts a stellar cast that includes prominent roles by Vijay Sethupathi, Raashi Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, and Regina Cassandra.

Reportedly, including the lead, Shahid Kapoor, the other cast members also took home a whopping pay cheque for their performance in the show.

To star in the series, Shahid Kapoor sought a hefty fee of Rs. 30 crore. With his recently released series, which explores the knockoff industry, the actor hit the perfect chords. In 'Farzi', Vijay Sethupathi plays Michael Vedanayagam, a Special Task Force officer. Financial Express reports that the popular actor received a massive paycheck of Rs. 7 crore. Actor Kay Kay Menon charged a staggering sum of Rs. 2.5 crore to play the role of a gangster (Mansoor Dalal).

Raashi Khanna reportedly got Rs. 1.5 crore for her role as a Reserve Bank of India officer in the new series on Amazon Prime Video, according to Financial Express.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor had previously revealed in a PTI interview that his character is from the Mumbai streets. "I completely understand (the character). That is what I was when I was 16 or 17-years-old, travelling in trains, doing this, that. The street Mumbai kid, with a lot of ambition and dreams and middle-class, lower-middle-class background. There is a crime angle that happens," he had said.

Sandeep, played by Shahid Kapoor, starts making phoney money to fund his grandfather's magazine business. However, he quickly begins engaging in organised crime because he cannot resist the comfort it offers.

Produced by D2R Films, the series will stream in India and across 240 countries and territories starting February 10 on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.
