After The Office, Indian Adaptations Of House And Suits Are In The Works

The iconic television series 'House' and 'Suits' will be getting Indian versions.

New Delhi: At the Asia Television Forum and Market, Banijay Asia's CEO, Deepak Dhar, told Variety that the iconic television series 'House' and 'Suits' will be getting Indian versions. Dhar stated that more information, along with the platform they would be on, will be made public in the first part of 2023.

The Indian adaptation of 'The Good Wife', starring Kajol, will debut on Disney+ Hotstar early in the following year, and 'Captain', the Indian adaptation of 'The Night Manager', is currently in post-production.

Banijay Asia has a plan to use India and a few neighbouring countries as a content hub. "We're now looking at producing a lot of unscripted formats as a hub in India - formats like 'Survivor' and 'Temptation Island,' 'Big Brother' and 'MasterChef'. These would be something that we would now take into our pan-Asian plans to really see if we can set those up as hubs in and around India," Dhar said.

"In India, we can strip down the costs to a certain extent and deliver value back to some of our partners. We're seeing that with pressure on the price and costs, we are planning to do multiple productions in one go," Dhar added.

'The Office', a popular mockumentary series, was previously adapted for the Indian audience. After two seasons, the remake was discontinued since it failed to make an impression on the audience.

Following the success of the Disney+ Hotstar show 'Moving In With Malaika', which follows the Bollywood star Malaika Arora, a number of captive reality shows focused on Indian cricketers are also added to the plan, which will premiere in 2023, the year of the wildly popular Indian Premier League cricket competition.
