‘This Generation Doesn’t Have The Aura’: Karan Johar Believes Actors From The Newer Generation Lack SRK's Level Of Stardom
According to Karan Johar, he does not believe that any actor of the current age would ever be able to achieve the kind of stardom that Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan have achieved.
New Delhi: You can't help but acknowledge that today's stars don't quite have the same level of stardom as previous generations' actors. According to Karan Johar, he does not believe that any actor of the current age would ever be able to achieve the kind of stardom that Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan have achieved.
In a recent interview with Film Compilation, director-producer Karan Johar talked about the absence of stardom. He believes that nowadays, everyone is so easily available. Karan continued by saying that the current generation may have "the most talented performers," but they do not have the aura and the charm.
Karan said, “The magnetism, the aura, the mystery, I don’t think this generation has it. When I was at a party, and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Mr. Dilip Kumar walked in, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan walked in, there were heads turning everywhere, I have seen it. That aura, everybody feeling their presence, that was power, that was stardom. That was glory.”
KJo then used Shahrukh Khan's example at his 50th birthday party about how people immediately noticed his presence when he arrived. “When Shah Rukh Khan came to my party, you could feel the thumping energy of the younger generation. You know that SRK is SRK, that kingdom that he has, that feeling that he evokes, it’s true. If he walked in right now, you would feel his energy even if you didn’t see him. You can sense Shah Rukh. He was the only one who didn’t walk the red carpet and came from the other side at my party. So I could see that from the younger movie actors, maybe from as young as Ananya Panday, right up to his peers, everybody felt that aura,” he said.
With this statement, the internet was left wondering whether the concept of stardom would even exist without Shah Rukh Khan.
Back to Karan Johar, He is presently shooting ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
