'This Film Is Celebrating Bappi Lahiri All The Way': Rituparna Sengupta On Working In 'Hum Tumhe Chahte Hai'

Rituparna Sengupta who plays a pivotal role in the film had a conversation with ABP Live revealing what the film is about and how does she feel to be a part of such a production.

'Hum Tumhein Chahte Hain' is set to hit the theatres on October 13 and the promotions are in full swing with the star cast Rituparna Sengupta, Janmejaya Singh and Anusmriti Sarkar visiting different cities along with Producers Rema Lahiri Bansal, Govind Bansal and Singer Rego B Lahiri. A few days back they visited the 'City Of Joy' Kolkata and attended a press meet.

Rituparna Sengupta, who plays a pivotal role in the film, was present at the press meet where she had a conversation with ABP Live and disclosed what the film is about and how she feels to be part of such a production.

"I am really happy to work in this film because this is not just a film for me, this is more of a sentiment for which we have worked since day 1 because this is like my home production as I am so much with the family. It just feels to be at home. And, when you have something homegrown, it's a different feeling altogether. And, of course 'Bappi Da' (Bappi Lahiri) is in our hearts and he has given his last music in this film. So, this film is celebrating him all the way," she said.

Rituparna considers the Lahiri family as her own and went on to recall some fond memories that she has cherished with Bappi Lahiri.

She said, "So many fond memories. It feels so sad now when I go to his house and I don't find him sitting on his chair, but I always feel that his energy is there in the house. We used to spend a lovely time in his house during pujas and had so many parties. Also, whenever I am in Mumbai, it's a mandate that I spend some time with him and his family. He was like an elder brother, always taking care. It is a very intimate connection that I have with the family. I really miss him."

"When Bappi Da had told me about this film, I was very happy and he had said that I would be playing the pivotal role. Also, the story is very interesting. It talks about relationships and society and I believe that there are a lot of shades in this film which actually excited me as an actor. So, it's quite an interesting way to look at ourselves," she added.

Bappi Lahiri happens to have composed the film's music before passing away and his grandson, Rego B will mark his playback debut in this film.

Commenting on this, Rego B said, "I believe that 'Seva Seva' is not just a song; it's a tribute to my grandfather's musical legacy and a heartfelt expression of my passion for music. It's an incredible honour to sing the composition of Shri Bappi Lahiri and be part of this historic moment in the Indian music fraternity. I hope that through the song,' I can share the love, joy, and nostalgia that music brings to our lives and make my family proud".

Additionally, Rituparna also went on to talk about Rego calling him Bappi Lahiri's reflection.

She said, "I can see the spark of Bappi Da in Rego. He is such a talented kid and I feel that Rema has brought him up so well. It just gives you a very good feeling and he is indeed the greatest reflection of his grandfather."

About 'Hum Tumhe Chahte Hai':

Talking about the storyline, Rituparna said, "I always look for stories that will intrigue me and I think will have the same effect on my audience as well."

"The movie has spoken about real emotions and I think it has not been camouflaged or made up. It is very real and on the face about what a man and woman feel at every distinctive age and those transitions are very well etched out by the scriptwriter. He has actually pictured the minds of the individuals in his own way and of course connected it with the premises of the film. It is something that is very beautifully done. Also, the songs give another zing to it."

The star-studded cast of the film also includes Govind Namdev, Anup Jalota, Rajpal Yadav, Zakir Hussain, Anusmriti Sarkar, Arun Bakshi, Surendra Pal, Tinaa Ghaai, Anil Nagrath, Kaushal Shah, Sangeeta Singh, and Hitesh Sampal. With such a stellar lineup, 'Hum Tumhein Chahte Hain' promises to deliver powerful performances that will resonate with audiences.
